Missio Dei is a two-day missions conference organized by students, faculty and staff of Providence College and Seminary. Missio Dei means the sending of God and at Providence, we believe that God chooses to work though people in a whole variety of ways and we are striving to continually be open to the sending of God in our own midst. Missio Dei highlights the global nature of Christianity, as well as focuses on the marrying of gospel proclamation with social action. Missio Dei 2011 will take place February 2-3. The conference begins on Wednesday night with a diversity meal followed by an evening discussion. On Thursday, our classes are cancelled so all can attend the two keynote addresses and variety of workshops and panel discussions. The ever popular and exciting Marketplace is held on Thursday evening where both International and Canadian students can showcase their cultural talents and knowledge by bartering for services and products using Missio Dei’s very own currency – Konkel bucks. Throughout the conference, representatives from mission organizations are on hand to speak with students on an informal basis. Providence’s Missio Dei is open to anyone interested in attending. The conference offers participants the opportunity to explore missions in its many forms. For more information on Missio Dei, please contact Kara Mandryk. Christmas BanquetIn addition to the fabulous food, the entire Providence family gets dressed up, takes lots of pictures, and reflects on what God did for us by sending His Son to transform our lives. Senior Sneak
The college seniors plan their own getaway every year – a secret escape from a few days of school in their final year. Every year the destination is different – planned mainly by the Senior Class Representative. Memories are made as the seniors wind down to finish the three or four years they spent at Providence College. Grad Weekend
Graduation Weekend is a time of celebration for the end of college studies and the beginning of new things. It is also a time to congratulate the grads for a job well done. The weekend starts out on Friday morning with a Fellowship Chapel to congratulate the certificate and diploma graduates and present academic awards. The following evening there is a banquet for all students and their spouses, families, staff, and faculty. It is a formal affair with awards and testimonies. The graduation ceremonies take place on the weekend following the last day of school here on campus; Seminary graduation is on the Saturday and College graduation is on the Sunday.
